Oosterbaan Fieldhouse

Oosterbaan Fieldhouse serves as Michigan Lacrosse’s Home playing field. It is located across the parking lot from Yost Ice Arena and behind Schembechler Hall on State Street. Aside from serving as the home of Michigan lacrosse, the building is used by U-M athletics for indoor practices, and is also used by the University’s intramural and club sports programs.
Constructed in 1970, Oosterbaan Fieldhouse features two endline filming stations, a climate-controlled playing/spectating environment and sideline seating for 800 people. The building is joined to Schembechler Hall which houses the Michigan football team. Featuring a state-of-the-art FieldTurf surface, the enclosed practice and playing area provides year-round, full-field training and development opportunities.
Newly constructed and connected to Oosterbaan Fieldhouse, the Al Glick Field House is the new indoor practice facility for football. The new building has much more space for fans, including seating for 2,000, restrooms, and concession space. Although the current design limits the participation of “hard-ball” sports (lacrosse, baseball, softball), discussions are under way to accomodate these sports, eventually giving Michigan Lacrosse two full-field, indoor facilities.

On the horizon, plans are under way for Elbel Field to be converted to FieldTurf within the next few years. Stadium lighting and a permanent scoreboard will be added, along with seating for 3,000. This will finally give Michigan an outdoor lacrosse facility.
Most exciting, the team is finalizing plans to construct a new lacrosse-only service building next to Elbel Field that will include locker rooms, offices, meeting rooms, equipment, training and a 5,000 square-foot weight room. Once the new building is completed Michigan lacrosse will have the best facilities in the nation, at any level.
